Last year I photographed the great and renowned Australian Opera Singer, mezzo-soprano Deborah Humble, who was here to perform at Paris Fashion Week.
Deborah has performed in many opera productions around the world and is highly regarded for her powerful voice and dramatic performances. Some of the notable roles she has played include Amneris in “Aida,” Suzuki “MadameButterfly”, and Klytemnestra in “Elektra.” Amongst many, many more.
What an honour it was to be chosen to photograph this remarkably talented woman with no less than the City of Light as our backdrop.
I met Deborah one early October morning at the Louvre where she arrived wearing her custom-made gown by Melbourne-based designer Linda Britten. Paris Fashion Week guidelines asked that she wear something in the colour of the season “fuchsia” and didn’t she wear it well?! We finished our shoot across the road in the classic favourite Palais Royal gardens.
Little did I know that the photos would be used in Australian Financial Review in an article about Deborah and her business pivot during the 2020 pandemic confinement.
Being published is one of the ultimate goals for us photographers, so this was a real highlight of 2022 for me.
