Shooting in Paris always brings something special, and lately, Palais Royal has become a favorite location for photographing clients who want to capture a more low-key, everyday vision of the city.
My session in May 2024 with Charlie Bouquett was no exception. Charlie, a burlesque performer based in London, is a natural in front of the camera. She also has a sharp eye for vintage clothing, always creating ensembles with a specific character in mind, which adds depth to the narrative of the photos.
We started at Palais Royal on a bright, sunny day. For this type of shoot, it isn’t necessary to be up at sunrise—the interplay of shadows and light throughout the day makes the photos more dynamic.
We used the arcades surrounding the gardens, with their old storefronts adding charm and character to the shots. Each location provided a fresh setting to explore, and Charlie’s look blended seamlessly into every frame.
We continued shooting as we walked through the backstreets of the 2eme arrondissement to Galerie Vivienne. There, we found the antique bookshop as a perfect backdrop, bringing a sense of history to the shoot.
We wrapped up the day at Bistro Vivienne with a glass of wine, a fitting close to a session that combined classic Parisian charm with Charlie’s unique presence.
Enjoy the final images from this wonderful shoot!
