I love photoshoots in Jardin du Luxembourg
The Jardin du Luxembourg is one of the most beautiful and beloved gardens in Paris. It’s located on the Left Bank in the 6th arrondissement, right next to the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The gardens were created in 1612 for Queen Marie de Medici and surround the elegant Luxembourg Palace, which today houses the French Senate.
Loved by Parisians because it feels like a peaceful escape in the middle of the city – a place to read, meet friends, sail little wooden boats on the fountain with their children, or simply sit in one of the famous green chairs and watch Paris life unfold.
I love photographing my clients in the Jardin du Luxembourg because it offers so much variety in one place. Parisian architecture, tree-lined promenades, fountains and statues, and in summer and spring, the floral features are just perfect in the background of the photos.
The light there is beautiful and soft, especially in the morning or late afternoon, and the atmosphere is calm, less frantic than at my other shoot locations. There is more room to move, and there are plenty of stunning backdrops within the park itself and on the streets of the park’s outskirts. I’ve explored the area several times with clients, and Marta’s solo shoot (shown below) is a great example of a shoot with no fixed agenda, just the simple itinerary of starting at Point A ( the gardens) and finishing at Point B (Palais Royal).
Jardin du Luxembourg is a great option for family photos, as the kids will have more freedom to be themselves, and of course, I especially like solo shoots there, not only because of its Parisian charm but because so many people do hang out in these gardens solo!
